Man tortured to death for abduction by son

BAHAWALPUR: Twelve people killed a 55-year-old man for a crime committed by his son at Abbasnagar, some 20km from here on Thursday.
Taj Muhammad, son of Atta Muhammad, had abducted Parveen, mother of five, about two months ago. Later, the woman was handed over to her family on an order of Punchayat and the issue was resolved. However, Gulzar, son of Perveen, nurtured grudge against Taj.
He along with his 11 accomplices allegedly abducted Atta Muhammad and severely tortured. The accused also gave him sewage when he demanded water from them before getting unconscious, besides smearing his face in sewage. Later, the victim died due to serious torture marks.
Abbasnagar police have registered a case against 12 accused, including nine nominated, on the report of the deceased’s son Sultan Mehmood. According to SHO Liaqat Gill, police have arrested five accused.
Woman, daughter among three killed in accidents

BAHAWALPUR: Three people were killed in two road accidents on Chishtian-Bahawalnagar Road on Sunday.
In the first incident, a speeding trailer hit a motorcycle near Gardariwala. As a result, a woman and her daughter were killed on the spot while her son was injured.
In the second incident, Imran Ali of Chak 112, Murad, was on his way when a vehicle hit his motorcycle in Chishtian Sadr police limits. As a result, he died on the spot.
