SWABI: In an apparent targetted attack, suspected militants gunned down two policemen at the busy Karnal Sher Khan Chowk in the district headquarters here on Friday.
Police and eyewitnesses said the cops were performing duty at the busy square when they were targeted.
They included Gohar Khan from Kalu Khan village and Arshad Khan hailing from Pajman village located in the Gadoon Amazai mountainous area.
“The two policemen were regulating the flow of traffic when the two militants opened fire on them. The people started running for cover when the firing started,” an eyewitness said.
The wounded policemen were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Swabi town where the doctor pronounced them dead.
Officials said the attack on the cops could be a reaction to the recent killing of the four militants.
