Two higher officers monitor Muharram arrangements

FAISALABAD: The Punjab government Wednesday deputed Population Welfare Secretary Altaf Aizad and DIG Traffic Rana Muhammad Iqbal to monitor the Muharram arrangements in Faisalabad.
Both officers held a meeting at DCO Office. The meeting was attended by DCO Noorul Amin Mengal, ADC Ejaz Khaliq, DOC Saba Adil, Medical Superintendents of hospitals, TMOs, DSP traffic and others officers of different departments including Rescue 1122.
In the meeting the secretary and the DIG urged all departments to review the Muharram security arrangements anew and make coordinated efforts to maintain security arrangements from all angles.
They said all-out resources and energies were being utilized for keeping law and order situation in control during Muharram.
They said the role of peace committees was very important for maintaining religious harmony and promoting the sentiments of brotherhood.
The DCO briefed the officers on the Muharram arrangements, saying that Central Muharram Control Room has been established at DCO Office.
He said surveillance of Muharram processions was being carried out through CCTV cameras and a camp has been established at the Chowk Clock Tower to oversee the arrangements.
The DCO said daily meetings of intelligence committees and Peace Committees were being held for redressing any core issue with reference to Muharram arrangements. Later, the monitoring team officers visited various routes of Muharram processions and reviewed total arrangements.
