KARACHI: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah said that Chaudhry Sher Ali was abnormal as he kept on calling others names and leveling allegation against him of killing 20 people. He also did the same two months earlier but could not give their names. Rana offered that he would himself appear for investigation in case the accuser gave the names of just two people. Rana said that he took no notice of the allegations nor reported it to the party leadership. Rana Sanaullah pointed out that he was declared innocent and given clearance in an investigation in the case of PTI worker’s murder.Meanwhile, PTI leaders Jehangir Tareen said that his party played anti-status quo and mature politics and would never indulge in wheeling and dealing politics. It would play its role as a real opposition in the assembly. He said Nawaz Sharif was ruling the country in the style of Mughal kings and pointed out that he dismissed the MD of the Nandipur Power Plant without any reason. Tareen said the government was not disclosing the details of LNG contract, which made one think there was something fishy. He said the N-League ran away from contesting elections in NA-154. “But I will drag it back in the field to contest and prove its worth,” he said. Shahzeb Khanzada said that effective strategy was not being adopted to cope with target killing of police personnel as he quoted this admittance of police from its own high profile investigative report. He quoted the report as saying that there were possibly five groups involved in attacks on traffic cops.Telling the inside story of the dismissal of the MD of Nandipur Power Plant, Shahzeb Khanzada said that investigation into causes of failure of the plant was still going on but the government removed the MD of the plant, Muhammad Ahmad Mahmood, a blue-eyed boy of Shahbaz Sharif. Analysing hostilities within the N-League, Shahzeb Khanzada said in addition to difference among ministers, the turbulence and conflicts
within the party had also surfaced. Abid Sher Ali’s father Chaudhry Sher Ali, in a press conference criticised Rana Sanaullah and Shahbaz Sharif. He questioned the performance of Shahbaz Sharif saying: “You speak of projects of billions of rupees but your relative lost election in Lahore.” Bureau chief of the Geo News Karachi, Faheem Siddiqi said the strategy adopted by police to cope with target killing of police personnel was so defective that terrorists continued to enjoy a free hand and were killing without any fear. He said the police had no knowledge which group of terrorists was involved in the killing. The Qingqi rickshaw mafia was thought to be responsible for target killing, especially the traffic policemen, as the department had taken strict action against it and had even banned their plying on city roads. The groups of target killers are freely engaged in their activities but the police had not been able to nab them, Siddiqi noted.
