Russia strikes Syria

This refers to the editorial cartoon titled, ‘Russia strikes in Syria’ (October 5). It was scary for many of us readers when viewed in the context of the conditions prevailing all over the Muslim world today. It showed the air forces of the two superpowers milling around the Syrian air space.
Looking at where we stand, there is one big difference between us and Iraq, Libya and Syria. We cannot sustain ourselves without mega help and patronage from the west. It is time we corrected our sense of direction, did not show over-dependence on ‘our so-called friends’ and strengthened the three wings of our armed forces to an extent that our enemies think twice before harming us.
