Mind-boggling by-poll

The way the PTI and the PML-N had made the by-election in NA-122 a matter of life and death is mind-boggling. Both parties tried their best to beat each other out in their campaigns leading up to the election. They flagrantly violated the code of conduct during the election campaigns, with the Election Commission showing no signs to rein in the two warring parties. That clearly showed the ECP’s lack of authority.
Moreover, the role played by the media also requires some introspection. It seems the media has a habit of making a mountain out of a molehill. Instead of educating people, the media should educate itself first. We need to concentrate on the real issues this country and its people are facing.
