Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that those interrupting the process of prosperity of farmers, labourers and the common man are not sincere to the masses.
He said that opposition to public welfare projects was in fact opposition to the progress of the poor and downtrodden. According to a handout issued on Sunday, he was talking to different delegations. He said that the elements involved in the negative politics of sit-ins and destruction were not interested in development of country and welfare of citizens. He said that major decisions had been taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for strengthening economy and coping with the challenges being faced by the country and their implementation was yielding positive results.
He said that due to effective policies of the government, economy was stabilising and economic indicators were improving. He said that poverty, ignorance, unemployment and loadshedding would be eliminated from the country and a revolution of national progress and prosperity would be ushered in. He said that service to the masses and improvement in the living standard of deprived segments of the society was the pivot of the PML-N politics. He said that billions of rupees saved from projects were being spent on changing the socio-economic condition of the people.
The chief minister said the journey of progress and prosperity of the country started under the leadership of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would be successfully completed. He said the government was working round-the-clock for resolving energy crisis. He said that power projects were being completed expeditiously and for the first time in the country’s history, coal-based energy projects were being set up. He said that work was in progress on a 1,320 megawatt coal-based power project in Sahiwal. Similarly, he said, foundation stone of gas-based Bhikki power plant of 1,180 megawatt had also been laid while federal government was setting up two power plants of 2,400 megawatt which would also be operated with gas. He said a new history had been written by saving Rs110 billion of the hard-earned money of the masses in these three projects.
He said that due to transparency and effective strategy of the Punjab government with regard to Bhikki power plant, a huge sum of Rs38 billion had been saved which was unprecedented in the history of Pakistan.
