SHEIKHPURA: A major terror plot ahead of Muharram was foiled when at least five suspected terrorists including, Kala Qari, a banned organisation’s commander, were killed on Saturday. The law enforcement personnel conducted a raid on a tip-off regarding presence of terrorists inside a farmhouse near Khanpur canal. The security personnel faced armed resistance as they entered the premises and five terrorists including Kala Qari and Kashif alias Kashi were killed during exchange of fire. Sources said that commander Kala Qari was involved in major terror incidents including assassination of former minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti and chief surgeon Brig Mushtaq. He was also involved in attacks on ex-minister for religious affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi and Nato vehicles near Rawat and Tarnol. Another terrorist identified as Umar Farooq was sniper trainer. The counter-terrorism force was informed by the intelligence agencies that this group was planning major attacks on religious and political personalities in Lahore and Sheikhpura on the occasion of Ashura.
