Eight LHC additional judges recommended for confirmation

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission on Saturday recommended the confirmation of 8 additional judges of Lahore High Court (LHC) and one-year extension in the service of four additional judges of the LHC.
The commission also recommended the appointment of 9 additional judges in the Sindh High Court (SHC).
The Judicial Commission meeting for the appointment of judges in the higher judiciary was held here in the Supreme Court presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali who is also the chairman of the commission.
The Judicial Commission during the meeting recommended the confirmation of 8 additional judges of the LHC including Justice Arshad Mahmood Tabasum, Justice Muhammad Tariq Abbassi, Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Masood Jehangir, Justice Sadaqat Ali Khan, Justice Ali Akbar Qurashi, Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed, Justice Shahid Karim and Justice Mirza Waqas Rauf.
Likewise, the commission also recommended one-year extension in the service of four additional judges of the LHC including Justice Khalid Mahmood Malik, Justice Chaudhry Mushtaq Ahmed, Justice Masood Abid Naqvi and Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Iqbal.
The 9 SHC additional judges of SHC who were recommended to be appointed included Muhammad Karim Khan Agha, popularly known as K K Agha, former prosecutor general National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Abdul Ghani Somro who was the Registrar of the Special Court which was hearing Federation complaint seeking initiation of high treason case against former military dictator General (R) Pervez Musharraf for imposing emergency rule on November 3, 2007, Ghulam Qadir Laghari, Muhammad Iqbal Mehar, Khadim Hussain Sheikh, Zulfiqar Ahmed Khan, Mahmood A Khan, Anwar Hussain and Muhammad Faisal Kamal Alam.
