PESHAWAR: Azizullah Alizai of Dera Ismail Khan and Niaz Ahmad from Shangla were elected as members of the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) here on Friday.
Aslam Hayat Khan from Ghazi and Azazullah Khan from Serai Naurang got majority votes amongst tehsil nazims to represent local governments in the PFC.
The election of nazims as members of the Provincial Finance Commission (PFC) was held at District Council Hall. Secretary Local Government & Rural Development Syed Jamaluddin Shah acted as returning officer. Senior Minister of LG & RD Inayatullah Khan supervised the election process.
Under the new formula, four nazims were directly elected by the present lot of 23 district and 68 tehsil, town nazimeen for the PFC unlike the previous procedure of nominating two nazims by the provincial government.
The interested district nazims filed nomination papers from 10 to 11 am at District Council Hall Peshawar where after two representatives of district nazims for the PFC were elected between 11 am to 12 noon.
Similarly, nomination papers by the tehsil, town nazims were filed from 2 to 3 pm where after their two reps were elected within half an hour.
