GCU wins bilingual declamation contest
LAHORE Government College University’s Debating Society (GCU-DS) has won the All Punjab Bilingual Declamation Contest 2015 hosted by Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). About 16 top educational institutions of the country participated in the debate contest organised in connection with the celebrations for International Space Week.

Government College University’s Debating Society (GCU-DS) has won the All Punjab Bilingual Declamation Contest 2015 hosted by Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO). About 16 top educational institutions of the country participated in the debate contest organised in connection with the celebrations for International Space Week.
GCU Orator Rana Muhammad Kafeel was declared the Best Urdu Speaker while his university fellow Ali Zar got the first prize in the English humorous category for his hilarious speech on the topic “English is a funny language”. Wajeeha Naseem from a private college stood first in the English category. The team GCU was adjudicated overall best team of the competition and lifted the prestigious team trophy.
GCU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah congratulated Rana Muhammad Kafeel and Ali Zar on their achievement and also wished them success in the future. Meanwhile, GCU Special Graduate Assessment Test – General (GAT) for admissions to MS/MPhil programmes of the varsity has been rescheduled and will be held on October 10, 2015 on the university premises instead of October 11, 2015.
A notification has been issued to this effect by the university’s Admissions Office on Thursday. It further stated that candidates could download their roll number slips from the website of the university’s testing body and slips would not be dispatched to candidates.
