FAISALABAD: Three married women committed suicide over domestic disputes in different incidents here.
They are Shazia Sabir of Balochni, Maryam Ilyas of Illaqa Garh and Shamaila Arshad of Chak 240/RB. They committed suicide by consuming poison and acid.
EIGHT SHOPKEEPERS BOOKED: Eight shopkeepers were booked while Rs 329,000 fine was imposed on 42 shopkeepers for selling chicken meat on exorbitant rate during the last three days in the district.
Talking to newsmen, the deputy commissioner informed that a crackdown was being carried out by the price control magistrates across the district against the expensive sellers of chicken meat. He said that the rate of chicken 260/kg had been fixed by the Punjab government which needed to be implemented and strict instructions had been issued to the price control magistrates in this regard. He said that the price control magistrates had been asked to keep abreast of their daily performance and poor performance would not be tolerated. He asked the shopkeepers to sell chicken meat on the govt notified rate, otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
SHO BOOKED: Millat Town police station SHO Ali Imran has been booked under Section 155 of the Police Ordinance 2002 on the charge of misusing his power during his posting at the police station four years ago.
On the order of the city police officer (CPO), an inquiry against SHO Ali Imran was conducted by the SSP Investigations and he was proved guilty for misusing his power.
THREE BIKERS HELD: City traffic police arrested three motorcyclists for doing wheelie. They include Ali Shan and M Umair. They were doing wheelie near a petrol pump on Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road.
Three injured: Three persons were injured in a collision between a car and a truck in the limits of City police Samundri on Thursday. According to police, Saeed Ahmed, Adeel Ahmed and Muhammad Irfan were travelling by a car when a truck collided with their vehicle near Gill Chowk. As a result, all the three car riders sustained critical injuries. Police and Rescue-1122 teams reached the site and shifted the injured to the Allied Hospital where the condition of Adeel and Irfan was stated to be serious. A case has been registered against the truck driver.
