MULTAN: A candidate for the slot of union council No-91 chairman was kidnapped and admitted to a drug addicts rehabilitation centre on Monday evening.
The candidate, Rana Zulfiqar Ali, was going to submit his nomination papers to the returning officer when he was allegedly abducted by his rival Rana Waheed, who was also his brother-in-law and cousin, and his armed men.
The accused sniffed him some chemicals and he fell unconsciousness. Later, they took him to the rehabilitation centre where addicts were treated through therapy and medicine. The kidnappers pretended that he was an addict and the doctor immediately administered him an injection and he again fell unconscious.
When Rana Zulfiqar’s family came to know about the incident, they along with more than 100 persons of Rana clan reached the hospital and got him discharged from the hospital. Zulfiqar’s CNIC, other documents and a mobile phone were missing from his pockets.
Meanwhile, Zulfiqar said that he reported the matter to Alpha police but they were allegedly using delaying tactics to register a case against the accused because they belonged to the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz. He demanded immediate registration of a case against the accused on his complaint.
