21-member DPC reconstituted
to maintain peace in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The district administration has reconstituted the District Peace Committee comprising 21 members for keeping peace in the district.
According to a notification issued here on Tuesday, the Faisalabad DCO would be the convener of the committee while its members include Faisalabad CPO, SSP Special Branch, ADC, AC City and Auqaf district manager. Three members from each sect have been taken in the peace committee, including Sahibzada Faiz Rasool, Maulana Saeed Ahmad, Malik Bakhsh Elahi, Sahibzada Zahid Mahmood, Maulana Yousaf Tariq, Qari Muhammad Yaseen, Syed Jafar Hussain, Dr Iftikhar Naqvi, Dr Mumtaz, Maulana Muhammad Yousaf Anwar, Abdul Rasheed and Qari Yaseen Zafar.
Meanwhile, presiding over a meeting to finalise Muharram security and administrative arrangements here, DCO Noorul Amin Mengal directed the officers concerned to ensure foolproof security arrangements during Muharram in the district. He asked the officers concerned to conduct a survey at the sites of Muharram processions and Majalis to remove all kinds of obstacles and encroachments for smooth and peaceful observance of the Muharram. The DCO stressed upon the implementation of Muharram contingency plan in letter and spirit and said that the concerned departments of the City District Government would extend all-out cooperation with the law enforcement agencies for maintaining peace and religious harmony in the district. He said that a District Control Room would work for monitoring the Muharram arrangements at the DCO office while a similar control room would also remained active at tehsil level. The DCO said that the ban on the use of loudspeakers should strictly be implemented and no wall chalking should be seen anywhere in the district. He said that CCTV cameras should be installed at all important and vulnerable points besides arranging proper lighting system at the sites of Muharram processions and Majalis. He said that emergency had been declared in all government hospitals in the district and additional doctors/paramedical staff would be deployed during Muharram. He directed the ACs to hold meetings with the licence holders of Muharram processions to ensure settlement of all issues. He said that proper cleanliness and repair of the Muharram processions routes should be completed in due course of time and the concerned departments should keep close liaison with the organisers of the Muharram programmes. He urged upon the mobilisation of peace committees at district and tehsil levels and said that regular meetings with the peace committees should be ensured for maintaining religious harmony and brotherhood among the all sects. He said that proper traffic plan should be evolved especially for 9th and 10th of Muharram and Faisalabad Parking Company would manage suitable arrangements for safe and controlled vehicles parking. The DCO added that comprehensive plan should be chalked out for the deployment of Rescue 1122 staffers and Civil Defence volunteers. He said that all security and other arrangements should be completed before the start of Muharram in the district.
