KARACHI: A journalist was gunned down by some armed persons in Jacobabad on Tuesday Zulfiqar Ali Mandrani was a resident of Dodapur, a small town in Jacobabad district where he was working for daily Koshish. Mandrani received three bullets and was rushed to Lakana Civil Hospital in critical condition but he succumbed to his injuries.
SSP Jacobabad Bashir Ahmed Brohi instantly termed that the journalist was murdered by Dayo tribesmen. He also claimed arresting two accused Nazeer Ahmed Dayo and Riaz Ahmed Dayo.
Raheem Bux, father of the murdered journalist, rejected the claim of SSP and told media that his son was killed in a conspiracy hatched by some influential persons of the area who were annoyed with his son's bold news reporting. Similarly, Editor daily Koshish Naimat Khuhro also expressed his disappointment over the role of the Police and asked as to how SSP Jacobabad reached the conclusion within minutes of the murder. Khuhro demanded an impartial investigation into the murder.
On the other hand, Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists, Sindh Journalists Council and Karachi Union of Journalists have also demanded animpartial investigation into the journalist's murder.
