HARIPUR: At least eight persons, including two women and a minor boy, were killed in different parts of Haripur district during Eid days, police officials said on Tuesday.
The officials of Makhniyal Police Station said two groups attacked each other with fire arms over some property dispute in Pariyala village. Two women, one from each side, were killed in the clash.
The deceased were identified as Kulsoom Bibi, wife of Muhammad Asif, and Asma Bibi w/o Muhammad Yasir. In the limits of Sera-e-Saleh Police Station, Abid Riaz stabbed Mehrban of village Bagra No 2, to death. The motives behind the murder were not known. In village Kupri of Nara Amazai union council, a 15-month-old boy Sahil Khan died while his maternal grandmother injured when the roof of a room caved in on the second day of Eid.
In the limits of Khanpur Police Station, Syed Sibtain Shah from village Tofkiyan was caught in the cross firing between two rival groups who attacked each other on GT road on Tuesday morning.
Police quoted eyewitnesses as saying that Sibtain Shah, who came to Khanpur bazaar for shopping, attempted to request both sides not to quarrel when the bullets allegedly fired from both sides hit him.
Also, three persons lost their lives while bathing in the Khanpur dam. Police said that two of three deceased were identified as Muhammad Talha, 16, resident of Rahbar Colony Taxila and Abdul Mohiz, 17, resident of Adiala Rawalpindi.
