Afghan instability

This refers to the news report, ‘Afghan instability has telling effects on region: COAS’ and the article, ‘Pakistan’s Afghan problem’ (September 30) by Shahzad Chaudhry.
It is good to see that the army chief has realised the threat militancy poses to the region. Blaming each other never helped in the past and is not going to help in the future. The root causes of terrorism have to be found. Prevention lies in early detection of the causes and taking measures to treat the maladies jointly.
