LAHORE Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP-Niazi) agreed to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate in the upcoming by-polls in NA-122 Lahore, while Jamaat-e-Islami Lahore leadership has sought time to consult central leadership to take a formal decision in this regard. The MWM and JUP-Niazi announced their support during the meeting with PTI Punjab Organiser Ch Muhammad Sarwar who called on the leaders of the three religious parties on Friday. During the meetings with MWM and JUP-Niazi leadership, Sarwar was accompanied by the NA-122 candidates Abdul Aleem Khan and Jamshed Iqbal Cheema. After the meeting, MWM Punjab Deputy Secretary General Allama Iqbal Kamrani said his party would support PTI candidates in by-polls because the incumbent government had done nothing for masses except corruption and creating crises after crisis. Sarwar said the two parties also struck a deal on seat adjustment in the upcoming Local Government elections in Punjab. He thanked MWM for its outright support to PTI and said the time had come to fight against corruption, bad governance and status quo. He said all federal and provincial government offices were being used by PML-N for ruling party electioneering but PTI would not let anybody steal the mandate of people. To a question, he said the land mafia was still more powerful in Punjab and government was complacent about its activities. He said PTI would hold a large public meeting on October 9 and he would love to see JI Ameer Sirajul Haq joining this meeting and supporting the PTI stance. He also met JUP-Niazi President Pir Syed Masoom Hussain Naqvi who assured PTI of its full cooperation. Earlier, Sarwar along with the Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed called on JI Deputy Secretary General Fareed Paracha and Lahore ameer Mian Maqsood. JI leaders said they would respond to the request after consulting with central leaders in a couple of days. Sarwar told
reporters that PTI and JI were allies in KP and PTI wished to take this cooperation ahead. He hoped that JI would consider the request for support in NA-122 positively.
