MULTAN: The Pakistan Muslim League-N is close to another setback by losing another wicket as the degree of PML-N MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar from NA 148 has been declared bogus.
The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination’s Inter Board Chairmen Committee has declared the degree of MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar bogus in a detailed reply submitted to the Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, court sources revealed. On Thursday, Justice Chaudhry Masood Jehangir of the LHC Multan Bench adjourned the hearing for October 28 for final verdict.
Earlier, Muhammad Nawaz Khan filed a writ petition in the LHC Multan Bench, alleging that MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar had violated the Section 62/63 by submitting a bogus degree in the local government elections in the past. “The MNA has committed dishonesty and he had not been honest any more.” The petitioner stated that the MNA contested the local government elections from Union Council 72 and submitted a fake degree of MA Arabic/Islamiat. Later, he contested the National Assembly election from NA-148 and won.
The Election Commission of Pakistan and the in-charge of Madrassa Jamia Qasmia Anwarul Aloom, Dera Ismail Khan, were made party to the case as the degree was issued by the madrassa.
The LHC Multan Bench had sought a detailed report and verification of the MNA’s MA Arabic degree from the Inter Board Chairmen Committee. The committee representative, Assistant Secretary Syed Amaar Hussain Gilani, submitted the findings and declared the degree bogus. “We verify the MA Arabic degree issued in the name of MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar by Darul Aloom Jamia Qasmia, Dera Ismail Khan, as fake and bogus,” Assistant Secretary wrote in his report.
Meanwhile, the counsel to Abdul Ghaffar Dogar tried to get the hearing adjourned, but the court fixed October 28 for verdict. The court also ordered the counsel and MNA Abdul Ghaffar Dogar to ensure their presence on the next hearing.
