PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has questioned barricades and blockade of roads in the Cantonment area and said all citizens should be treated equally whether they are residing in Cantonment or City areas. Hearing a petition filed by Mohammad Essa Khan against the military checkposts and barricades set up in the provincial capital, a two-member bench comprising of PHC Chief Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel and Justice Irshad Qaiser summoned the chief secretary, home secretary, inspector general of police, secretary defence and secretary interior to the court on October 13. Mohammad Essa and Muhammad Ayaz, who are both lawyers, told the court that the public is not allowed to enter several areas of Peshawar Cantonment.
