Court questions official over funds for Mardan constituency
PESHAWAR: The Supreme Court of Pakistan Circuit bench has directed Director General Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited to submit written comments in a case about the release of fund for the provision of gas to PK-55 constituency of Mardan district.
The court directed the SNGPL DG to submit reports on the incomplete development projects and provision of fund. The Petroleum Division had filed an appeal against the decision of honourable Peshawar High Court to provide fund for incomplete projects. However, Member Provincial Assembly of PK-55 Mardan Jamshid Khan filed a contempt of court against DG for not implementing court decision. During the hearing, the Supreme Court directed the Petroleum Division to release fund for incomplete projects immediately. The DG informed the court that summary for release of fund was in the pipeline for incomplete projects of PK-55 Mardan. On behalf of MPA Jamshid Khan, Hameed-ur-Rehman Safi Advocate informed the honourable court that high court had directed DG of the SNGPL to release fund within one month but the funds were not released till today. The DG informed the SC that fund will be allocated for incomplete projects in upcoming budget for PK-55. The two-member bench comprising Justice Umar Atta Bandyal and Justice Qazi Mohammad Amin heard the appeal and directed the DG to submit the comment before the next hearing.
