60pc increase in corona patients in Faisalabad in four days

FAISALABAD: Coronavirus is rapidly growing in Faisalabad as the Health Department has noticed 60 per cent increase in the patients during the last four days.

According to Dr Bilal of the Health Department, out of 57 local suspects of coronavirus who were brought to local public sector hospitals for screening tests, coronavirus in 13 patients was detected and they were shifted to the Ghulam Muhammadabad General Hospital for medication in the isolation ward. The number of corona patients was 20 in the beginning which had now been increased to 57 during the last four days, he told.

Meanwhile, the death toll of corona patients in Faisalabad had reached to four after the demise of Sidra Bibi while three corona patients were under treatment at the General Hospital, Ghulam Muhammadabad in precarious condition.

The total number of corona patients in the public sector hospital was 30 and out of whom three were shifted to ventilators.

AUCTION PROCESS AT FRUIT, VEGETABLE MARKET: Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali on Tuesday visited the Fruit and Vegetable Market Sadhar Jhang Road to review the auction processes.

AC Sadar Umar Maqbool and EADA Abdul Rahman were also accompanied with them. The DC went to different sheds and observed the auction of the vegetables and fruits. He also checked the qualities of the fruits and vegetables available in the market for wholesale. He said that auction of fruits and vegetables was being monitored to check the unfair and injustice increase of the prices at wholesale level. He said that demands of the different essential items had been increased manifold during the holy month of Ramazan and shopkeeper tried to exploit this situation by raising the prices. He said that the negative trend for taking the advantage of increasing demand could be discouraged by supervising the auctions in wholesale market. He directed the Market Committee staff for regular monitoring of the auction process and issued the wholesale price list of the different vegetables and fruits along with retail prices by including justified profit. The DC said that the proper cleanliness of the Fruit and Vegetable Market should be ensured besides keeping lights of the polls functional for the comfort of the shopkeepers. He directed the security staff for performing their duties actively for the protection of the traders and shopkeepers.

‘FWCCI COLLECTING DATA OF WOMEN AFFECTED BY LOCKDOWN’: The Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry is busy compiling data of women entrepreneurs badly affected due to the prolonged lockdown, said Mrs Quratul Ain, the FWCCI president here on Tuesday. She said that the government was making serious efforts to facilitate the small traders and industrialists who were affected due to the continuous closure of their shops and industrial units. She said that male businessmen being active players of the economy avail all the opportunities offered by the government but women generally remained deprived of these facilities because of their inherited shyness. She said that the FWCCI was collecting data of the women entrepreneurs who were badly affected due to current crisis.

RATION BAGS: CPO Sohail Chaudhry has constituted seven police teams to distribute ration bags among the families of martyred police officials who laid down their lives while fighting with hard criminals and dangerous proclaimed offenders. According to PRO Amir Waheed, each ration bag would contain 20kg flour and other articles of kitchen. He told that there were 109 families of the martyrs in Faisalabad district which would be supplied the ration bags within a couple of days.

‘Strict measures being taken for elimination of dengue’: On the directions of Punjab CM Sardar Usman Buzdar, strict measures are being taken for the eradication of dengue in the district and fish are also released in clean ponds to eliminate dengue larvae.

In this connection, Commissioner Ishrat Ali and Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali released Telapia fish in the pond of Wasa near Jhal Khanuana Chowk. DHA CEO Dr Mushtaq Sipra, DHO Dr Bilal Ahmad, District Coordinator Dr Aurangzeb, AD Fisheries Department M Shahid and other officers of different departments were present on the occasion. The commissioner told that due to danger of dengue larvae, such kind of fish were releasing in the clean ponds and Fisheries Department had been given a task in this regard. He said that the work on dengue surveillance had expedited with a view to recent temperature and all concerned departments had to be remain vigilant to cope with dengue issue and perform their duties efficiently. He said that no negligence or laxity would be tolerated regarding the implementation on the plan evolved for checking dengue larvae. The DC said that besides the activities of district administration against dengue larvae, public at large to remain more vigilant for stopping the dengue breading. He directed that the water tanks of Wasa and ponds of dirty water should also be checked daily and made biochemical treatment there for eradication dengue larvae.
