Students stranded in Kyrgyzstan seek PM’s help

TIMERGARA: More than 8500 Pakistani students stranded in Kyrgyzstan has asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to help bring them back through special flights from the Kyrgyz republic.

Talking to this scribe from Bishkek, capital of Kyrgyzstan, via phone, medical students, including Saqib Hussain, Hammad Khan, Atif, Aizaz, Amir Abdullah and others, said they were faced with a host of hardships due to the lockdown in Kyrgyzstan. “A total of 8700 Pakistani students, who are studying in various universities at the Kyrgyz republic, are faced with untold hardships due to lockdown as all the educational institutions are closed and they are confined to their rooms,” the students said.

“Security officials do not allow Pakistani students to go out for buying food. When they go out for taking food they are arrested for not possessing passports as the student have already submitted them (passports) to the universities they are studying. “We are running out of money as neither our parents in Pakistan can afford to send us money due to lockdown nor we are allowed to collect money from our accounts here in Kyrgyzstan,” the students complained.

“The educational institutions have been closed down in Kyrgyzstan for a period of six months and examinations would be taken online,” they added. “We have knocked at every door and even approached the Pakistani embassy in Kyrgyzstan, but to no avail,” they complained.
