MULTAN: The Nishtar Medical Health University and Hospital has decided to establish a separate emergency isolation block for corona critical patients.
NMHU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mustafa Kamal Pasha approved the establishment of a separate corona emergency block and the work had been started in this regard.
The administration has allocated 88 beds in the isolation block, consisting of four wards 22, 26, 27, 28 and 29, at the hospital, the Nishtar Hospital officials said on Sunday. Talking to The News, Nishtar Hospital focal person Dr Muhammad Irfan Arshad said that ward No 26 was equipped with all necessary facilities for the treatment of corona suspects. A separate labour room, operation theatre and ultrasound room had been established at ward No 26 for corona suspects, he said. The administration had allocated five rooms in the said ward for surgeries to ensure provision of all facilities to corona suspects, he added.
The ward No 27 had been allocated for corona positive critical patients. Five ventilators had also been provided in the ward with ICU facility, he told. A High Dependency Unit had been established in the rest of 10 rooms in the ward where only critical corona patients were admitted, he continued. The casual corona patients were admitted to the ward Nos 22, 28 and 29, he informed. Dr Irfan Arshad said that total 4,239 corona tests had been conducted at the hospital while 340 were identified as corona positive till Friday last.
He said that the hospital had received total 18,911 Tavek suits and 11,476 suits had been distributed among doctors leaving 7,435 lyng in stock. Similarly, the hospital had received 9,444 N-95 masks and 7,020 distributed among the staff while 1,424 lying in stock, he told. The hospital had received 216,382 head caps and 144,194 were distributed among the staff, he informed.
He told that 1,257 head shields were received and 162 were distributed among the staff. Similarly, the hospital received 1,102 goggles and 608 distributed and 494 were kept in stock, he maintained. The hospital had received 496,080 vinyl gloves and 324,980 were distributed, received 101,300 face surgical masks and distributed 95,770 among the staff, he added.
Interest-free loans for farmers: Secretary Agriculture Punjab Wasif Khursheed Sunday urged farmers to avail interest-free loan facility for promoting agriculture sector.
In a statement, Wasif Khursheed observed that the government was offering Rs 30,000 per acre for Rabi and Rs 50,000 per acre for Khareef crops. The process of loans issuance have been made easier. Now, farmers can avail loans in one installment only. Farmers having five or less than five acres, will be given loans on priority basis. He urged farmers to get them registered at land record centre for availing of the facility. He said the registered farmers would only be given interest free loans. Earlier, they issued interest free loans worth Rs 49 billion and the process would facilitate farmers having 12 or less than 12 acres of land. He also directed officials of agriculture department to impart guidance among farmers to maintain social distancing to fight Covid 19. He also directed them to work with dedication to achieve cotton sowing targets. Any negligence in discharge of duty would not be tolerated, he maintained.
