LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Agriculture Malik Nauman Ahmad Langrial has circulated a letter to the deputy commissioners across the province after receiving some complaints regarding non-cooperation with Punjab Seed Corporation in wheat seed transportation.
According to the letter issued by the minister, procurement of wheat from registered farmers of Punjab is being completed through Punjab Seed Corporation. This year, Punjab Seed Corporation is procuring 560,000 bags of 100 kg wheat seeds from registered farmers across the province. The district administration should extend full cooperation to them. All the staff of Punjab Seed Corporation are completing the process of procurement of wheat from farmers according to the SOP issued in connection with coronavirus. The Punjab agriculture minister said that as per the vision of Chief Minister, Inshallah, the government will fulfil its promise to buy grain from the farmers. The Agriculture Department and Food Department are working together to ensure food security in the province. “Provincial Minister for Food Aleem Khan is my elder brother,” said Malik Nauman, adding, “We are achieving target of purchasing wheat from farmers through mutual consultation. We are trying our level best that cheap and quality seeds can be provided to farmers for next year and increasing wheat production per acre can make Punjab a grain basket.”
