HARIPUR: The city police Monday claimed to have arrested a kidnapper and recovered two children from his captivity.
Nagina Bibi, a resident of Mohallah Azizabad, lodged an FIR at the City Police Station, saying that her son Siraj, 7, and daughter Sadaf, 6, left home but did not return. She alleged that Abdul Latif, an Afghan refugee residing in Camp No 16, had kidnapped them.
The accused, who reportedly had some money dispute with the family, demanded Rs25,000 ransom for the safe release of the kids. The police collected the data from phone calls and recovered the children from Khanpur Road by arresting the kidnapper.
The police said the motive behind the kidnapping was a loan dispute between the parties.
Man killed in accident: A man was killed while two others sustained injuries when two vehicles collided on GT Road in the precincts of the City Police Station.
After the accident, locals reached the spot and took the bodies to the Women and Children Hospital. A passenger coach (JB 2420) was on the way to Lahore from Battagram when it collided head-on with another vehicle (V-1141) near Darwesh village.
