LAHORE: The Lahore High Court has set up a model court in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.
Administrative judge of the Lahore High Court’s information technology department Justice Ali Baqar Najafi has turned his own courtroom into a model court, where cases would be heard while observing social distancing. IT department has installed a LCD screen in the courtroom and a distance of three feet has been observed while setting up two rostrums for lawyers and the chairs laid down there. Lawyers would not be required to appear before the courts, unless asked by the court. They would submit their replies and written arguments online through given e-mail. The record of all the cases pending in the model court have been scanned and made available online to the judge. After setting up a model court, Justice Najafi heard cases Thursday by using LCD screen to go through scanned files and issued appropriate orders.
