ISLAMABAD: Nine accounts of Twitter and Facebook involved in a defamatory campaign against Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Ali Zaidi have been suspended by relevant authorities after a Judicial Magistrate, FIA adjudicated that these accounts were operating in breach of Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016 and other Penal Laws.
The FIA had approached the judicial magistrate on April 16th after receipt of a complaint from Minister Ali Zaidi about a malicious campaign against him on social media by corrupt mafia against whom he had proceeded. The judicial magistrate order allows FIA to approach the Security Department of Twitter to provide information about the accounts involved in the defamatory and malicious in violation of law. FIA will be taking further action after receipt of response from Twitter and Facebook.
