The NED University of Engineering & Technology in its 192nd syndicate meeting, held last week, approved a new admission policy under which the merit lists would be prepared for admissions on the basis of 50 per cent marks of the entrance test and 50 per cent marks of the first year of college result.
In the case students registered with the students registered with the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), the same rule will be applied on the basis of their passed subjects in the A-Level.
The varsity administration in the meeting also approved the allocation of 18 seats for the students registered with the Ziauddin Examination Board this year for the intermediate exams.
In the meeting, some professors were appointed as chairpersons of their relevant departments. Prof Dr Mushahid Hussain has been appointed as chairman of the Automotive Engineering Department, Prof Dr Ali Raza Jaffri will assume charge as chairman of the Bio Medical Engineering Department, Prof Dr Adnan Qadir will be the new chairman of the Urban Infrastructure Engineering Department and Prof Dr Maqsood Ahmed Khan will take charge as chairman of the Industrial Manufacturing Engineering Department.
The syndicate meeting also appointed Dr Sahibzada Farooq Ahmad Rafeeqi as professor emeritus while two professors, Prof Dr Muhammad Tufail and Prof Dr Saad Qazi, were approved for a special selection board for meritorious professors.
During the meeting, the annual progress report was also presented and the budget proposals were also discussed. The meeting was chaired by NEDUET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Sarosh Hashmat Lodi.
