BATKHELA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) provincial chief Senator Mushtaq Ahmad Khan on Wednesday said that the party welfare organisation Al-Khidmat Foundation was playing a crucial role in mitigating the problems of the poor segment of society in the prevailing coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Speaking at a ceremony held under the auspices of Al-Khidmat Foundation, Malakand chapter, for the distribution of 1,000 food packages among the poor and deserving people at Thana, the lawmaker said that the coronavirus epidemic had affected the entire world, which needed a united response to combat the fast-spreading viral infection.
AKF provincial president Khalid Waqas, vice-president zakir Hussain and others were present on the occasion.
Senator Mushtaq said that the AKF would distribute 0.5 million food packages among the poor and needy people during Ramazan and Eidul Fitr.
He said that the AKF had been playing a frontline role during natural disasters including earthquakes, floods and epidemics to mitigate the sufferings of the affected people irrespective of their political and religious affiliation.
He said the foundation would continue to serve the masses with new vigour and spirit in the time to come.
