290 arrested for violating rules
PESHAWAR: The district administration on Tuesday arrested 290 persons for violation of the unnecessary movement and opening of non-essential shops.
With the arrest of these 290 persons, the administration arrested a total of 1226 persons during the last week, said a press release issued from the deputy commissioner officer.
However, it has not been disclosed as to where these arrested persons had been shifted as the prisons in the province were already overcrowded. Even shifting of these persons to police lockups would pose threat to their health or policemen. The release said that these persons were arrested for opening shops or unnecessary movement in the bazaars on Charsadda Road, Khyber Bazaar, Shoba Bazaar, Namak Mandi, Hayatabad, Nauthia and other places. The administration had also arrested 230 persons on Monday for violation of the ban, it said, it urged the masses to stay at home and help the government contain the spread of coronavirus.
