PFB president asks baseball players to stay fit
KARACHI: Amid lockdown and all sports activities being shut amid Covid-19 pandemic, Pakistan Federation of Baseball (PFB) president Syed Fakhar Ali Shah has asked baseball players to keep themselves fit as this lockdown is not forever and they will soon have to feature in different events.
“We are hoping that this pandemic soon ends,” Fakhar said. “International events have been postponed. The inaugural Baseball 5 tournament scheduled to take place in Malaysia in April has been rescheduled for October and Asian U-12 Baseball Championship, which was scheduled to take place in Taiwan in July has been moved for November,” he added.
He said that if the pandemic still posed threat late in 2020 then events might be moved to 2021. “So, it is not that events will not happen again. I would request players to keep themselves fit in their houses or in their vicinity. I fear if players don’t keep themselves fit, they may lose the chance to play in competitive events when things get better,” he added.
He said that he has directed PFB coaches to keep players engaged in fitness activities communicating through online apps and has also asked players to send their videos of exercising and training to the federation. PFB Women Wing secretary Ayesha Irum has asked female players not to lose their fitness in the comfort of their homes amid lockdown and keep exercising and training.
