MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said that Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme is the biggest financial package for the people affected by coronavirus lockdown.
Talking to journalists during his surprise visits to Ehsaas Kifalat centres set up at Manzoorabad and Qasimpur on Sunday, Qureshi said that the package was entertaining millions of people without any political prejudices under the digital system in a most transparent way. Qureshi also checked cash counters, procedures of releasing money to deserving families and talked to affected people in Seraiki language. He said that Multan had been at top in Punjab rendering services to affected people with speedy distribution of money. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that Rs 1.36 billion had been distributed among the affected people. He said that Multan had successfully accomplished another assignment of setting up the country’s biggest quarantine centre in Industrial Estate. The city of Multan had hosted corona suspects from all the four provinces, he told. The people of Multan had warmly welcomed all corona suspects with open hearts, he said. Qureshi said that he would brief Prime Minister Imran Khan about contributions of Multan in the fight against corona. He asked all the families at Ehsaas Cash centres to continue social distancing.
The officials informed Shah Mehmood Qureshi that the financial assistance distribution had entered the 10th day in Multan while 25 centres had been fully active in the district.
