LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami ameer Senator Siraj-ul-Haq has alleged that the government’s doors were closed to the poor and it was displaying its performance of providing relief to the lockdown affected masses only through media propaganda.
Allegations of incompetence in dealing with coronavirus and the lockdown situation being exchanged between the federal and Sindh government were the most unfortunate under present situation which exposed the real face of the rulers, he said while talking to media at Mansoora on Sunday after distribution of anti-corona virus spray machines to Al-Khidmat Lahore volunteers.
He said the government was paying Rs12,000 for four months only to those who were registered under the Benazir Income Support Programme while it did not have the data about millions of other people not registered under the BISP and thus being ignored for any relief distribution at all. He alleged that the government was not willing to learn from its mistakes, as it was not fulfilling its promises to the nation and implementing its announcements. He said hundreds of thousands of daily wage earners, labourers and farmers were still awaiting government’s financial help. The government gave them a new hope every day but the next day, there was nothing for them again.
On the other hand, he said, around one lakh workers and volunteers of JI and Al-Khidmat Foundation had been providing relief to the deserving people in all cities, towns and villages from the very first day as they considered helping the poor and those facing hardships as their humanitarian as well as religious duty. He said Al-Khidmat Foundation had so far, distributed ration and safety material valuing about Rs1 billion to the deserving people.
Siraj-ul-Haq appealed to UN Secretary General to send a special mission to Indian-Held Kashmir to stop the Muslims genocide by Indian occupation army using coronavirus as a weapon against them. He said Indian occupant army had imposed a severe lockdown in Kashmir for the last eight months, closing down all hospitals, educational institutions, business and markets, forcing the Kashmiris to die of starvation. He said it was the responsibility of the UN, human rights bodies and the OIC to stop Indian brutalities against innocent civilians demanding their right to self-determination guaranteed by UN resolutions. He warned that if world community remained silent a big human tragedy may result in the valley.
