LAHORE:Some 8,678 out of 11,274 Tableeghi Jamaat members have been tested negative for the coronavirus in the province and remaining tests would be completed by tomorrow.
It was stated during a meeting jointly presided over by Provincial Law Minister Raja Basharat and Chief Secretary Major (r) Azam Suleman Khan. Additional Chief Secretary Home Momin Agha, Commissioner Lahore Division Saif Anjum, CCPO Lahore Zulfiqar Hameed and officers concerned attended the meeting whereas Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastgir, divisional commissioners and regional police officers joined through video link. The meeting was briefed that participants in the Tableeghi Ijtema including foreigners were being sent to their countries after being tested negative for the coronavirus. The meeting also reviewed ongoing wheat procurement and issuance of Bardana (gunny bags) in the province. The meeting was told that about 776,180 gunny bags had been distributed and 94,562 metric tonnes of wheat was procured in different districts of the province so far.
29 more patients recover: Punjab Health Minister Dr. Yasmin Rashid said Sunday that 29 more Covid-19 patients had recovered at Mayo Hospital and PKLI Centre in Lahore.
The minister said a total of 206 patients from different Lahore hospitals had returned to their homes so far. Overall in Punjab, about 680 patients have recovered from Covid-19 at different hospitals in the province. She said the return of patients to their homes in a good number was an encouraging development. She said, “So far we have conducted over 54,000 tests in Punjab. I request all people to support government efforts by complying with lockdown rules and stay indoors.”
Man caught: A man, who managed to come out of Tablighi Markaz, Raiwind City on Sunday, was caught by the police and handed over to the authority concerned. The man identified as Sajid hailed from Mansehra.
private hospitals: The Punjab Healthcare Commission has conducted special inspections and helped 45 private hospitals in eight cities prepare for treating Covid-19 patients.
Among these hospitals, 18 are in Lahore, Faisalabad 10, five each in Multan and Sargodha, Gujranwala 3, Rawalpindi 2 while one each in Narowal and Lodhran. The hospitals have developed isolation wards and high dependency units where 966 beds have been allocated for coronavirus patients. In the healthcare establishments, facilities of intensive care units and ventilators have been provided for serious patients. Moreover, in 40 hospitals – including 18 in Lahore – reporting of Covid-19 patients has been ensured. They have been given access to the dashboard of the health department.
