LAHORE : Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has said that the whole world, including Pakistan, is facing extraordinary circumstances due to Covid-19.
He said the Punjab government had also taken effective steps to deal with this situation. He maintained that under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the largest program of financial assistance in the history of Pakistan for providing relief to the destitute segment of society continued successfully. He said that financial aid of Rs 12,000 had so far been distributed transparently among thousands of needy families. He added that the former government entertained people with hollow slogans and false promises. He said that opposition parties were merely doing lip service and trying to divide the people in this time of the trial instead of standing beside them. “The opposition, even in this difficult situation, is playing a negative role. The entire PTI leadership is standing beside the people in the hard times and is aware of their difficulties,” he added.
CM writes to his team: Usman Buzdar, in a letter written to provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants and assembly members, has said the country is passing through a critical phase because of the coronavirus and expressed hope that they would make efforts to deal with the current unusual situation. He said that Punjab government has taken effective measures to prevent the coronavirus and he was confident the government would soon be able to overcome the disease. He said that Punjab was taking the lead in providing PPEs to the doctors, setting up of DSL-III labs, provision of kits and other essential equipment. He said Punjab would soon get the capacity of conducting 10,000 tests on daily basis. He said that quarantine centres, isolation wards and high dependency units had been set up throughout the province. He said the government was fully aware about the problems and difficulties of those who had become unemployed due to the pandemic. Usman Buzdar thanked Prime Minister Imran Khan who had approved an increase in financial aid for the destitute up to Rs12,000 under Ehsaas Kaflat Programme and Chief Minister’s Insaaf Imdad Programme.
He stressed the administration to actively monitor action against hoarders and profiteers besides personally inspecting the steps being taken for the anti-dengue campaign as well as Green Punjab Programme. He said that elected representatives should also visit hospitals of their respective areas and inspect treatment facilities being provided to the patients. He expressed hope that they will also monitored the wheat procurement campaign.

Usman Buzdar directed the elected representatives to take effective measures to deal with Covid-19 in their respective areas and said that it was the time to stand beside ailing humanity. The PTI leadership understands the pain of people and is fully aware of the problems of the common man. The whole PTI leadership is standing beside the people in a coronavirus pandemic, he added.
