Pervaiz Elahi orders maintaining wheat transportation record
LAHORE :Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi presided over the third video link meeting of the All Parties Special Parliamentary Committee on Corona on Friday.
Provincial Ministers Muhammad Basharat Raja, Abdul Aleem Khan and Nauman Langrial, MPAs Syed Hassan Murtaza, Nazir Ahmad Chohan, Sajid Ahmad Khan, Samiullah Khan, Khwaja Salman Rafique, Sardar Ovais Ahmad Khan Leghari, Aminul Zulqarnain, Muhammad Moavia and Malik Ahmad Ali Aulakh participated in the meeting.
Agriculture and Food Departments ministers and secretaries briefed the meeting. On this occasion, Punjab Assembly Secretary Muhammad Khan Bhatti and DG Parliamentary Affairs Inayatullah Lak were also present. Pervaiz Elahi congratulated Abdul Aleem Khan on becoming Food Minister. He said that there should be no deduction of any kind in wheat procurement; small cultivators should be saved from worry of every kind. He said that proper record should be maintained about inter-provincial transportation of wheat, whosoever province wants to buy wheat its record should be maintained at official level.
He said that keeping in view difficulties of the farmers wheat procurement centres number be increased to the maximum possible, after the governments completes its procurement target the private sector should be allowed to buy wheat this will help the farmers in getting full compensation.
Pervaiz Elahi said that preventive measures against Corona be ensured at the procurement centres, payment of subsidy on fertilizers and seed allowed by the government should also be ensured. He said because of recent rains there will be difference in wheat procurement, in this regard every cooperation should be extended to the cultivators/farmers.
Pervaiz Elahi said that the Food Authority should take action against those who cultivate vegetables in dirty water, their areas be sealed and they should be awarded strict punishments. Pervaiz Elahi said that the entire opposition was ready to cooperate with the government, we all would have to solve the problems together, all proposals of the Parliamentary Committee will be get implemented.
Responding to the queries from the parliamentary leaders, Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan and Nauman Langrial said that we want to move forward benefitting from the experience of Ch Pervaiz Elahi, number of wheat procurement centres would be increased in accordance with the proposals of all members in their districts and preventive measures against Corona will also be ensured in these procurement centres.
