The Bilal Colony police on Friday foiled a bid to transport 22 passengers from Karachi to Quetta in a truck in violation of the lockdown.
According to District Central SSP Arif Aslam Rao, the police intercepted the vehicle carrying 22 passengers at the 4K Chowrangi checkpoint.
The driver, Zainullah, son of Syed Akhter, was arrested and the truck bearing registration number PT 1121 seized.
An FIR under sections 188 and 269 of the Pakistan Penal Code had been lodged while further investigations were under way, the police added.
Two motorcycle lifters held
The Anti Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC) Gadap Town arrested two suspects allegedly involved in snatching of motorcycles.
According to an AVLC spokesperson, Shahzado alias Amjad, son of Hassan, and Ali Asghar Lashari, son of Abdul Fateh, were habitual motorcycle lifters. They used to lift motorcycles along with companions Asif Lashari, Kashif Lashari and Kamran alias Chhano, who are yet to be arrested, and sell them in Jhal Magsi, Balochistan. They were also arrested in the past. The police also recovered one stolen motorcycle and two pistols from their possession.
