ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) on Friday cleared an 18-month backlog of monthly stipends to 57 former athletes or their widows by releasing the cheque of Rs90,000 to each one.
The decision to give Rs5,000 stipend to each of the former athletes was taken in 2008 and since then these former players were getting the amount. However, the stipend was stopped during the last 18 months. Sanity finally prevailed as the ministry decided to clear the backlog and restart the payment on a monthly basis.
When questioned as why the amount was stopped, he said there were some issues which had been resolved.
