Man gunned down in SITE

A man was gunned down in an apparent target killing act near Naurus Chowrangi within the remits of the SITE A Section police station on Thursday. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities where he was identified as 32-year-old Umair, son of Iqbal. He lived in Bihar Colony.

The police, quoting witnesses, said the victim and his friend, who called Umair to the place where they were standing, were busy in an exchange of hot words with each other when a man came on a motorcycle and opened indiscriminate fire on Umair. The police have taken the victim’s mobile phone into custody.

Mugging bid

Two people were wounded in a firing incident in Korangi. They were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical attention. The Zaman Town police said two armed men riding a motorcycle tried to loot a general store; however, the suspected robbers opened indiscriminate fire when the shopkeeper offered resistance. The assailants managed to escape after committing the crime. The victims were identified as 30-year-old Ejaz Ahmed and Fazal, 22.
