Albayrak Solid Waste Management Company (ASWMC) General Manager (Operations) Usman Noori told ‘The News’ that they have established 11 transfer stations in different points where their dumpers would bring animal waste from different localities of the city. “The waste of sacrificial animals would be taken to Losar through big dumpers,” he said. He said that a total 227 vehicles, 130 mini-dumpers, 150 handcarts, 12 shovels, 12 arm-rollers and more than 2,000 sanitary workers would work day and night to remove animal waste from city areas during Eid days. “We have installed 18 compactors at different points in the city in which public could throw animal waste. More than 250 offal could be thrown in a compactor, he claimed. "Our sanitary workers would remove animal waste even from closed alleys," he said.
He appealed to public to put animal waste in ‘Special Polythene Bags’ which they would provide free of cost. He said that the city areas has been divided in sectors, adding that the sanitary workers will be working in three shifts and will be available round the clock during Eid days.
He said that they have cancelled Eid holidays of around 2,000 sanitary workers, officials, including officers of the sanitation department, to ensure cleanliness during Eid days. He said the control room has been established at the Albayrak office located at Saddar and residents should inform the control room if their streets and drains are not cleaned properly.
