NOWSHERA: The number of confirmed cases reached 31 after another suspected patient tested positive for the coronavirus in the district on Tuesday.
This was told a meeting of the Corona Task Force held with Deputy Commissioner Shahid Ali Khan in the chair.District Health Officer Dr Gulman Shah, District Headquarters Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Muhammad Shoaib, Qazi Medical Complex (QMC) Hospital Director Dr Arif Khan, In-charge Corona Control Programme Dr Niaz Muhammad and Dr Abuzar attended the meeting.
After the meeting, DC Shahid Ali Khan told media that they had sent swabs of 17 quarantined religious preachers of Tableeghi Markaz, Nowshera, for coronavirus test. Of them, he said six suspected patients reported negative while the result of one preacher hailing from Somalia was declared positive for coronavirus. The official said that results of 13 suspected patients were awaited.
He added that two patients had died of the coronavirus while as many recovered from the fast-spreading virus in the district. He said that swabs of 26 doctors, nurses and other paramedical staff of QMC had also been sent to laboratory for coronavirus test to ascertain the exact health condition of staff, who were fighting on the frontline in the prevailing corona pandemic.
Meanwhile, an anti-corona walkthrough gate was installed at the entrance of district courts in a bid to control the spread of fast-travelling viral infection. District and Sessions Judge Shehnaz Hameed Khattak inaugurated the anti-corona walk-through gate at the district courts.
Both teams will now compete in three one-day internationals, starting in Paarl on Tuesday
