LAHORE:The coronavirus may rapidly spread in more areas of Cantt Division police as the prescribed social distancing between the visitors at a bank branch in Harbanspura was not being maintained as observed here on Tuesday.

A citizen called the 15 Emergency Police and informed the receiver about the whole situation. He asked the operator to ask the SP concerned, Furqan, to rush to the spot. The caller contacted Lahore CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed and sent him videos and pictures regarding the sheer violation of SOPs. A few minutes later, cops in PRU's vehicle reached the scene, examined the situation sitting in the vehicle, and left. The citizen again called 15 Emergency Police and informed it about the PRU's "measures". Meanwhile, the citizen spotted a man along with his two-year-old daughter sitting under the shed of a shop adjacent to the bank. The girl's feeder was empty and she was eating stale and dry bread along with her father. The little girl looked happy while eating stuff that even rich hesitate to serve to their dogs. The citizen also informed the Cantt SP Cantt about the homeless father and her daughter. The SP suggested the citizen to call the DC and inform him about this man and his daughter as he had nothing to do with it. The citizen called the CCPO to get the DC's cellphone number, but to no avail. However, a reporter of The News helped the citizen get the DC's cell number. The citizen called the DC on his cellphone and requested the receiver, who was reluctant to identify himself, to shift the man and his daughter to some place where they could feel safe. The receiver assured that the arrangements would bemade in this regard. The citizen stayed at the site for 35 minutes, but police did not reach. The citizen left the place, dropping a message to CCPO Lahore: "May Allah bless you." SP Cantt informed The News that a police team was sent to the spot to ensure social distancing.
