HARIPUR: Two persons were arrested for allegedly wearing police uniform and uploading pictures on social media, police said here on Monday. Khalabat Township police Station House Officer Sajid Nawaz said that District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ashfaq Anwar was informed about two persons who had uploaded their pictures on the Facebook wearing police uniform and also held official pocket phones in their hands. The DPO took notice and ordered an inquiry into the matter.It was established during the probe that both the persons were civilians, who had unlawfully dressed themselves up in the official uniform of police.
The SHO said that on the directives of DPO, both the persons were arrested after registering a case under section 171 of the PPC. The accused were identified as Arsalan, resident of Sector No 1 Khalabat Township, and Muhammad Shoaib of Joran Pind village. The DPO ordered all the SHOs to surf social media and trace all those civilians impersonating themselves as police and bring them to book.
