Call to open mosques
Top leaders of religio-political parties, Ulema and Mashaikh have demanded the PTI government review its policy of restricting the number of worshippers in prayers and Traveeh at mosques and assured their support and cooperation in fighting the coronavirus.
In a joint statement here on Monday, the religious leaders, including Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) president Sahibzada Dr Abul Khair Muhammad Azad, Senator Siraj-ul-Haq, Senator Prof Sajid Mir, Allama Sajid Naqvi and others said at a time when the lockdown restrictions had been eased and people were queuing up outside banks, in the markets and shops, and goods transport and construction activity had been practically allowed, the plan of the federal and provincial governments to ban regular prayers and Traveeh at mosques was questionable. They said if all other collective activities could be permitted, restrictions on prayers and the Traveeh at mosques were contrary to the claims of PM Imran Khan to build Pakistan a Madina like state.
