One in 5 Indians suffering from mental health due to Covid-19
ISLAMABAD: A study in India has revealed that at least one in five Indians suffering from mental illness. The lockdown to contain the spread of corona pandemic in India is affecting the mental health adversely. According to a report appeared in Indian media has disclosed that the Indian Psychiatry Society has noticed a steep rise in the number of patients after coronavirus outbreak in the neighbouring country. The people are more prone to mental illnesses after the outbreak of coronavirus. The recent survey revealed there has been a 20 percent rise in mental illness cases. It also reveals at least one in five Indians suffering from mental illness. The nationwide lockdown may also be one of the reasons behind this phenomenon. The study claims that people have been living in fear of losing their lives, jobs and businesses. The lockdown has resulted in mental distress and depression.
