KARACHI: At least twenty-five people, including a police official, have been arrested by police from the different areas of Sindh for allegedly deducting money illegally from the amounts of Ehssas Emergency Cash Programme.
A police official, Abdul Shakoor Khuhro, said to be posted at Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Karachi, was apprehended by Igra Police of Khairpur district, while illegally deducted amount from the aid money at a centre established inside his home was also recovered.
Shakoor Khuhro besides his official job in Police Department was also working as authorised agent of a private bank for disbursing the relief amount.
An FIR has been registered against Shakoor Khuhro under 406 and 420 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at Police Station Igra.
Local sources said Khuhro was the ghost employee of CTD Karachi, who was not performing his duties at CTD and doing private business at his native village of Khairpur.
On the other hand, some 25 persons were also arrested from the different areas of province including Dadu and Badin on the same charges. The arrested persons also included a female accused on the same charges of deducting money illegally from the amount of Ehsaas Programme.
