DUBAI: The government is distributing over 31,000 food packets daily among the underprivileged people in various areas in view of the coronavirus situation.

The residents of Naif, Satwa, Hatta, Jebel Ali and Al Warsan receive these food meals every day.

According to the authorities, the humanitarian gesture reflects the growing cooperation between social stakeholders to support the community in easing challenges in the current environment.

The government has recently set up Community Solidarity Fund to facilitate community contributions and donations towards combating the coronavirus outbreak. The fund seeks to forge collaboration with government entities, charity associations and members of society to help mitigate economic, social, and health challenges in the current period.

On Friday, the authorities distributed 1,500 daily meals to workers in the Al Warsan area. They also provided essential supplies to 500 workers in the Jebel Ali area. Another charity organization under government program distributed over 9,200 daily meals in various areas in Dubai.

A total of 8,229 daily meals were distributed in Hatta, Jebel Ali, Naif and Satwa while 12,635 meals provided in the Naif area.

"The humanitarian assistance to people affected by the current circumstances provides them relief and a sense of stability.

Contributions like these reflect the UAE's ethos of providing aid to everyone without discrimination," Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Executive Director of the Charitable Work Sector at Dubai’s Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department stated.
