Turkey to extend moral, financial support to Pakistan: envoy
ISLAMABAD: Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Ihsan Mustafa Yurdakul has assured that his country will not leave alone Pakistan in this critical period of time when it is confronting against coronavirus with fair amount of resilience.
“We will extend our moral and financial support to the needy people in brotherly Pakistan.” The ambassador was speaking in a function in Rawalpindi which was arranged to receive Turkish non-governmental organisation (NGO) The Foundation for Human Rights and Freedom and Humanitarian Relief (IHH-NL) support for the needy. Turkey is also suffering at the hands of deadly virus and fighting the pandemic with bravery.
The Turkish envoy said that Turkey would continue to help and facilitate poor people in Pakistan. He reminded that the coronavirus is worldwide pandemic and whole world is facing a grave situation and passing through difficult time.
Ambassador Yurdakul said that Pakistan and Turkey are two brotherly countries and their relationship is centuries old which is enshrined in religious, culture and history. “Turkish people have great love with the Pakistani brethren,” he added.
Yurdakul is the first foreign envoy who has reached to the people outside the federal capital in wake of the coronavirus outbreak and its adverse impact on the poor. Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Anwarul Haq said that all out efforts are being made to control coronavirus. He said that nothing to be worry about as the situation will improve soon. He thanked Turkish Ambassador for extending his support to help the deserving people at the face of critical and alarming situation.
Earlier in his welcome address Chairman Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Tariq Mehmood Murtaza thanked Turkish Ambassador and termed the assistance by Turkey as a good gesture and noble cause since Turkish government is helping poor community of Pakistan. He said that Turkey and Pakistan working together for the welfare of the poor people in Pakistan. He said that main agenda of the government is to improve the living standard of the people. Meeting concluded with a vote of thanks.
At the end ration bags were distributed among poor people in RDA Office, Pirwadahi, Dhok Hasso, Bhabra Bazar, Chittian Hattian, Landa Bazar. The support was provided keeping in view the problems of
poor masses facing shortage of food amid lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak.
The RDA has finalised its arrangements for distributing ration bags among impoverished masses in the city. Secretary Turkish IHH-NL Ikhlaqur Rahman, Director Admin and Finance RDA Khalid Javed Goraya, and others attended the function.
