Parliamentary body on coronavirus finalises ToRs
ISLAMABAD: The sub-committee of the Parliamentary Committee on Coronavirus Pandemic in its first meeting on Wednesday finalised proposals and comprehensive terms of reference (ToRs) for the parliamentary committee which would be presented to the committee meeting for adoption today (Thursday).
The sub-committee meeting was chaired by its Convener, Minister for Narcotics Control Azam Swati and attended by Senator Shibli Faraz, former prime minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, Senator Mushaidullah Khan, Shahida Akthar Ali and Anwarul Haq Kakar. The sub-committee discussed the draft rules of procedure of the parliamentary committee and proposals for making comprehensive ToRs.
There was a consensus that role of parliamentarians should be enhanced in overseeing relief activities. They also discussed for creating harmony amongst all religious sects and federating units and Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan for collectively fighting the pandemic.
The National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had formed the sub-committee to prepare detailed ToRs and to examine the draft rules and procedure.
